Engineering Spaces

I served only on standard steam turbine ships. Steam propelled ships. I did not serve on a gas turbine system. I have no idea what the difference is for engineers

I do know that engineers working on the USS Missouri in the fire rooms and the engine rooms worked in extremely hot conditions and it was absolutely miserable when they had to don their chemical suits.

I am wondering how many other sailors on the other ships also had to put on their chemical suit’s? I am wondering if the gas turbine systems ambient temperature in the engineering spaces or slower and less of a challenge to the workers there.
